Earthworks & Embankments Course

A 4-day course for geotechnical engineers who deal with the design,
construction and maintenance of fills and embankments. The course will
demonstrate the application of soil mechanics to real behaviour, real
misbehaviour and real problems. Lectures will deal with material properties
including the effect of excavation from borrow pits and quarries, handling
and compaction; methods of analysis including progressive failure and long
term deterioration; the effects of climate and problems of trafficability.
Presented by Prof. Peter Vaughan and colleagues from Imperial College
together with external speakers.
