AGS Data Transfer Format Users Meeting
Since the AGS launched the data transfer format for Geotechnical data (AGS
Format) 10 years ago, it has grown tremendously and it now used on the
majority of civil engineering projects in the UK and widely overseas. All
areas of the Geotechnical industry use AGS data and the AGS Users Day gives
a unique forum for all Geotechnical related industries to exchange ideas,
discuss problems with the data format committee and catch up on the latest
software and techniques available. The day will be in two parts, the
morning session will be a ‘user group’ meeting to describe and discus the
use of AGS Version 3 while the afternoon will be devoted to the launch of
AGS-M (see below). The presentations will be suitable for those who are
currently using the format and for those who are considering using it.
Launch of AGS-M
With the increased use of the ‘observational method’ monitoring data now
plays a major part in modern construction. Over the last 2 years CIRIA and
AGS have been working together to extend the AGS concept to include all
types of monitoring. This new module for AGS3 (called AGS-M) will be
launched in the afternoon and the presentations will give providers and
receivers of monitoring data an ideal introduction into the benefits of
using this new format.
