Dear Friends,
Time for the new competition. Steve Garner, Judith Mottram,
and Jac Saorsa will once again serve as judges.
I will leave it to them to announce functional rules --
deadline, how to submit, etc.
They will post the formal announcement of competition
sometime soon.
The substantive elements of the competition will be as follows:
(1)
Competitors must post well-defined sets of research problems
to this list.
(2)
Each problem must be named.
(3)
Each problem must be described clearly.
(4)
A clear description is an articulate statement that consists of
several sentences or a paragraph that defines the issue, and sets
boundaries to operationalize the issue as a research problem.
(5)
To the winner of the competition, I will offer a prize: the prize
is a drawing book or a research methods book at Amazon for
the person who posts the richest such set.
The richest set is the greatest number of items that each fulfills
the stated criteria.
The judges will announce details to implement the competition
When a winner is declared, I will confer with the winner to identify
a desirable book (no rare editions or multi-volume sets), buy the
book, and have it shipped direct to the winner from Amazon.
This is a research community, friends. Let's roll up our sleeves
and offer some research propositions.
Entries that were too late for the last competition will be in time
for this new competition. Please post them again after Steve,
Judith, and Jac announce the formal structure and rules.
Warm wishes and good luck!
Ken
