Monday 29 April 2pm to 4.30pm at Aylesbury Lending Library, Walton
Street, Aylesbury.
The rapid roll-out of the People's Network, providing free access to the
Internet and a wide range of IT applications, is having a dramatic
effect on public libraries, drawing in a wide range of new users, a
number of whom have learning needs that are not being addressed through
conventional routes.
This informal meeting will begin with a short tour around the People's
Network suites in The Lending Library and the County Reference Library
(2 separate but adjacent buildings.) The Lending Library also has an
extremely successful Learn Direct suite and we have recently opened,
with Lottery money, a Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies in the same
building as the County Reference Library.
This will be followed by a short presentation and wider discussion on
the theme of using library networks to create new learning
opportunities for adults and young people. Tea and cakes will be
served during discussion.
Numbers will be limited to 15, so please let me know if you would like
to attend this meeting, preferably before 19th April. I will be happy
to supply maps etc.
If you would like to come along earlier and meet for lunch, I can book
tables in one of the town centre pubs - just let me know.
