The Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CLRC) is the UK's leading
multidisciplinary science laboratory, providing facilities and services to
the UK science community. The Information Science and Engineering Group
within the Business and Information Technology Department offers research
and development expertise in the science and engineering of high quality
information and software systems. It has active research projects in web
technologies including XML and the Semantic Web, information modelling and
knowledge management and software engineering including OO and formal
methods. CLRC also hosts the UK Office of the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C) and is the UK member of the European Research Consortium in
Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM).
