Yeap.
and with a bit more imagination add the following:
Let us say an address consists of two parts.
Part_a to the left of the @ character being the local delivery point
which may identify a person by the nature of the text eg.
c.k.christacopoulos or it could be xy123
Part_b (to the right of the @ character) being the domain.
All addresses which use a domain that does not belong to the data subject
are at best "rented" or "leased" for the duration of the agreement. So
noone should expect to have a unique address with perpetual rights to it
when the domain belongs to someone else.
It is possible for an individual to create his/her own domain and
(allowing for sharks and conmen) you could then have an address that is:
[log in to unmask] for example. The domain would be mine
and therefore the address too, to use as I please for as long as I
maintain the rights to the domain.
Email Addresses are personal data all right, but they are not owned.
:-)
Is it Friday already?
Charles
