NEMLAC has organised its first Cultural Diversity Network meeting for Thurs 27
June at 2pm at House of Recovery.
The Cultural Diversity Network (North East) will endeavour to:
Develop a partnership approach to Cultural Diversity across the museum, gallery,
heritage, library and archive sectors
hampion the need to address diversity in a largely mono-cultural region
dentify and use our combined resources to celebrate and promote imaginative and
proactive cultural diversity work
romote a long-term strategic commitment to diversity work
elp support the development of an infrastructure, including staff confidence
and skills development, to progress with Cultural Diversity work
ct as a source information and expertise to inform the sector
ork to improve communications, both with minority ethnic communities and
between NEMLAC and members of the Network
ddress the inter-relationship between collections care and customer care, and
encourage customer centred improvements to welcome all users regardless of
cultural background (based on the Resource Inspiring Learning Framework)
esearch, monitor, compare, pilot, evaluate and showcase cultural diversity work
in the region, and benchmark with national good practice
xplore funding opportunities for this work
ork with partners in the Arts, Media and Sport through Culture North East, and
with GO-NE and Regional Assembly
