ERU Conference, Cardiff, 2002
Organizing/Theorizing:
Developments in Organizational Theory and Practice
Call for papers
Papers are invited on any aspect of organizational theory and practice
for the 17th Annual ERU Conference to be held at Cardiff Business
School on the 12 and 13th September 2002. Papers dealing with
theoretical, methodological, empirical and/or comparative issues are
welcome. In particular, the organizers are keen to encourage papers
that apply organization theory in novel areas or settings where such
approaches to research and understanding are perhaps under-utilized,
for example trade unions, small and medium sized enterprises, social
and voluntary movements, the public sector. We are also keen to
receive papers that are located at the interface of organization
theory and other disciplines. The conference will include the
following themes:
'Philosophy of organizing: emerging theoretical approaches in
organizational analysis' 'Knowledge, knowledge management and
innovation' 'Developments in organizational cognition' 'Quality of
work life and firm performance' 'Accounting practice and
organizational structures and processes' 'Ethics and organizations:
the ethical dimensions of organizational theory and practice'
'Gendering organizations: power, gender and discourses of identity'
'Institutions, structuration and organizational fields'
'Conceptualizing organizations through cross-disciplinary lenses'
Abstracts of 1000 words should be submitted to the organizing
committee no later than Friday, 22nd March 2002. Decisions on
acceptance of abstracts will be communicated by the end of April. The
ERU Conference is run annually and an edited collection and/or a
journal special issue is usually produced.
We are currently discussing the possibilities of a special issue
based
on this year's papers with a leading international journal.
Guest speakers include: Mats Alvesson, Robert Chia and Hugh Willmott.
Organizing Committee: Pawan Budhwar, Andy Crane, Annette Davies, Rick
Delbridge, Tim Edwards, Mahmoud Ezzamel, Lloyd Harris, Emmanuel
Ogbonna and Robyn Thomas.
