Dear David,
I am a relative newcomer to the world of complexity science. I became
interested after reading the BMJ series on complexity in health care, and
have since been applying it to my research and subsequent PhD.
My current work is looking at simple rules to guide behaviour change
(towards evidence-based practice) in health professionals in low income
settings. It would seem from my qualitative findings that the process of
changing behaviour is largely unpredictable and brought about by small,
often random, events.
I am interested to attend your groups' conference on 'Complexity: a new
perspective for the NHS and its partners', but am wondering to what extent
participants will be sharing experiences of successful or ongoing pragmatic
interventions to bring about change in health care and healthcare
providers? Will the sessions be largely theoretical?
I would welcome any more information.
Look forward to hearing from you,
b/wishes
Helen Smith
