I think it "obvious". But then perhaps I'm using my PhD advisor's
definition of "obvious" (if he could figure it out in less than 6
months, it was "obvious" - and I might add that he could probably
figure out more in 6 months than I could in 6 years).
Tis true that it is new, but I don't think it any more esoteric a
point than understanding what doing a pointer assignment with
a particular target means in the first place. I'm sure there
are people not used to pointers who wouldn't think of the fact
that the pointer assignment implies that the target's value
might change "behind your back" in some situations.
But a note seems reasonable to me if other folk would think it
would help.
