CADE 2003 SECOND CALL

We are pleased to invite you to participate in CADE 2003, the fifth
Computers in Art and Design Education conference. As always the conference
will be a forum for sharing ideas, good practice, and creative solutions. We
would like to encourage and facilitate a wide range of contributions, be
they traditional papers, proposals for panel discussions and participatory
forums, presentations, demonstrations, tutorials, exhibitions/performances
or workshops.
The title and major theme for CADE 2003 is:

Hullıs burgeoning media industries are at the forefront of cutting edge
information and communication technologies development, in particular the
established local interactive television service. Kingston Interactive
Television provides the UKıs only service combining multi-channel digital
TV, true Video on Demand, and Internet services delivered over existing
telephone lines using ADSL technologies.
CADE 2003 will debate the impact that new technologies have on our working
practices and changing role within our institutions. Please send proposals
according to the sub-theme of one of the conference days as follows:
TUESDAY 22 APRIL - THE POSTGRADUATE FORUM
Postgraduate PhD and MA students doing relevant research in art, design,
media practice and computer science are invited to contribute to this FREE
forum with a short presentation about their new, ongoing or recently
completed research.

WEDNESDAY 23 APRIL
Current media practice - where is it going, and how does it relate to new
technologies?
Who is watching whom, and how are they watching?
Who is watching, and where?
Communication? Remediation? Transmediation?
THURSDAY 24 APRIL
Current art & design practice - where is it going, and how does it relate to
new technologies?
Who is making what, and where?
Exploring boundaries, crossing boundaries, the end of boundaries
Different philosophies, critical manoeuvres, critical working
FRIDAY 25 APRIL
Current teaching and learning practice within art & design education - where
is it going, and how does it relate to new technologies?
Who is learning what and where?
What are we using our computers for? Is it a new agenda?
Innovation not imitation stimulating creativity in digital education
Multidimensional space, site, exchange, access, multi participation
Those wishing to contribute should submit electronically an extended
abstract, or summary of proposed activity, of up to 600 words using the
contact details above. Please include your name, title/position,
organisation/company, full address, type of event, summary of contribution,
facilities required, and short biographical note.
