Hi David,
i still think that you're conflating parties, discos and cllubs into one
and the same phenomena. A party might have 500 people none of whom is
paying anything. It might be in a muddy field, the location of which is
known only to most goers that night via a telephone net not disimilar to
the phone chains that got big marches against the Vietnam war out on the
streets almost at the drop of a hat in the 1960s. these *might be about sex
- partly, but they're not about money. Maybe solidarity and community
would be closer. Anarchy even.
I'm not talking about the big organised clubs like Cream and Miss
Moneypenny's and Pasha at all. But the music is still the thing and dancing
the dominant means of communication.
I'm NOT saying that speech doesn't matter. But the fact that it is not the
main mode in certain situations and is subordinated to listening and moving
doesn't bother me one jot nor suggest totallitarianism. That seems a huge
leap to make.
Now let's get into broadcasting and pirates . .;)
love and love
