Hi David,
aren't their clubs and parties and discos with differing intent? I
certainly don't consider them all to be about money and sex and the
silencing of speech. And sex isn't so bad as one form of interactivity. It
often leads from and into speech. The Quakers go for silence, is that
totalitarian? There are different ways to listen and to interact. Raves and
parties might not privilege speech but then that's not bad per se. Speech
doesn't need pole position in all areas of human activity and interactivity.
But the analogy of how DJs are treated I was making might be worth more
attention.
