Quite, Jeremy (unlike Mark, I think he'll last). I have the horrible
feeling that Adams is being condemned without a note of his music
having been listened to. A sense of the logic of Malleus Maleficarum
- if he's being accused, he must be guilty.
Interesting essay coming up in the next Masthead (due out in the next
few weeks) on the Adams issue by someone who knows what they're
talking about, for anyone who's interested beyond this spat. I do
think Andrea Brady's very interesting analysis of the manipulation of
public grief (written very shortly after September 11) is relevant to
this.
