According to EN207, the scale number (in this case L5) may be
followed by:
the manufacturer's identification mark,
certification mark,
mechanical strength mark (EN166)
The symbol "A" signifies that the equipment meets the high energy
impact requirement as defined in EN166.
EN207 requires the manufacturer of the eywear to give an
explanation of the symbols used in the marking (clause 5f). So if I
were you I would ask them to tell you what it means and point out
to them that they are in breach of EN207 if they do not supply this
information with the eyewear.
