We have experienced a problem when trying to view Powerpoint files (ppt) in
Blackboard under Windows XP Professional and using the XP version of
Internet Explorer 6.
The problem seems to be limited to the XP version of IE, as we can view the
ppt files in another browser, Opera fine. We can also view all other
Office file types fine in IE. The problem seems to be limited to
Blackbboard, as we can view ppt files located on other Web servers, and on
the local machine.
The problem occurs regardless of how the ppt file was saved (versions
option) or which version of Powerpoint was used to create the file (have
experimented using Powerpoint '97 and 2002.)
The Service Pack 1 does not seem to help, although the accompanying
documentation on the Microsoft site discusses several issues relating to
Powerpoint 2002 (which we are obviously using to call the files in IE.)
They are:
PPT2002: "Page Cannot Be Displayed" Error When You Follow a Hyperlink to a
PowerPoint Presentation (Q310409)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q310409
PPT2002: Web Session and Cookie Information Lost Opening Presentation
(Q314535)

OFFXP: Overview of the Office XP Service Pack 1 (Q307843)

Any thoughts or experience on using Powerpoint 2002 with Blackboard would
be most appreciated.
