Hi Kate,
FTP?! Far too complicated and messy for Bb. :-)
Herta emailed me this morning to say that on 5.5.1 there *is* a recycle
option for the DDB. Since we are only running 5.5 could this be the
reason the DDB doesn't appear as a separate recylce option? I find this
hard to believe but other opinions would be welcome.
On the download option, I recall someone saying that if you archive the
course you can pull the files out en masse via the zip file, which I
intend to try but this still doesn't delete the files. I already
recycled the course of old students and the DDB files were left intact,
so deleting a student doesn't seem to delete their files.
Regards
Paul

Alice, if you remove the users from a course, you should remove all
things they submitted to the DDB. You will very likely also lose
materials you had _sent_ them via the DDB, but anything you _added_ to
the DDB and was still there should be retained.
Paul, if you don't wish to be random but clear the DDB entirely, you
should be able to wipe the files through FTP (there's probably a good
unixy way of doing it, but you know me!) as that's how I save the files
en masse instead of doing right-click save as for each item. Each course
ID has folder called uploads. I hasten to add I've not used it to
delete, so I've no idea whether it would confuse the DDB with lots of
titles and files of -1k... :) but someone might expand on it.

Hi Paul
I recently recycled a staff development course where I needed to remove
all users, so that I could upload the current list of staff members. I
lost all the files I'd submitted to the digital dropbox. I wondered if
this is because you actually assign files to specific users and when you
delete the users the files go as well.

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if you can recycle the digital drop box contents? There
isn't a specific recycle option for this so is it recycled as part of
another recycle option? (running v5.5 level 1). I want to delete the DDB
contents for a course without deleting anything else and I don't want to
have to do each file individually.

Paul
