Ouch. Reacted too fast without verifying properly. The msg_main table
does not log e-mails, but only discussion board entries. So the only
way the procedure previously posted would work is when the offender
would have used the same account to post a message as well. Small chance.
So, here's another (tested) possibility.
By way of example (I wanted to make sure I got it right this time), I
sent myself a test mail which in email.log shows up as:
Thu Oct 31 10:04:04 2002
Subject: test email
From: [log in to unmask]
Bcc: [log in to unmask]
Then I searched the /usr/local/blackboard/httpd/logs/access_log (if
you're on Windows, you probably won't be running apache, and you'd need
to look at how things are logged there) for near time, and the strings
"POST" and "mail":
# grep '31/Oct/2002:10:0' access_log | grep mail | grep POST
10.34.20.9 - m04979 [31/Oct/2002:10:04:05 +0100] "POST
/bin/common/user_sendmail_select.pl HTTP/1.1" 200 -
The third field in the record is the user's login id. And again, you
can find the details in the database.
SQL> select * from users where user_id='m04979';
Kate, as to e-mail logging, the only blackboard logging I know of is the
email.log. So, I think you've been passing on the right message.
And yes, the anonymous/non-anonymous is just a Y/N flag in msg_main
called POST_AS_ANNON_IND, so you can find offending users if you like.
