Dear All,
African and African descendant UN follow up world conference against racism.
Barbados 1 - 6 October 2002
I will be attending the above conference.
There is a need for greater participation of African trade unionist.
It is also an opportunity for those of you who wanted to, but were unable to
attend last year's conference in Durban South Africa.
Reparation is one of the main theme of the conference.
As Trade Unionist, we have a responsibility to ensure, that some of the true
meaning of Reparation - to repair - also include the area of workers rights.
I am also in the process of finding out how many places there might be left
to attend.
So far preliminary information are that return fare from London could be
around £350, add to that hotel cost of around another £200.
This is a price that most unfunded delegates could well afford.
I am also currently asking if the flights could be extended before or after
the conference.
This way, if you have the time, you could stay a few days extra.
I intend to, because I will also be visiting family in both Jamaica and
Barbados.
I am at the moment very caught up in the work needing to be done in the run
up towards the European Anti Racist Network (EARN) conference in the
Netherlands on the 1,2,3rd of November 2002.
However, this is a limited conference with a maximum of 15 UK delegates.
If people can afford it, I wish to encourage you to attend, both of these
conferences.
The UK co-ordinator is a young woman call Ester Standford, and her E-Mail is

I will pass on any information I get from her, but if you wish to attend,
you
could contact her direct.
Thanks for taking time to read this.
