Dear Baltic Studies listserver subscribers:
Below I have attached information regarding an ECPR conference being held
in September 2003. The conference revolves around Central and East European
Politics. I was hoping to put together a panel relating to Baltic politics.
If anyone is interested, please let me know and we can work out specifics.
The deadline is July 22, 2002, so we need to work quickly.
Thank you for your time and attention,
David Galbreath

<Dear ECPR group members,
On behalf of Paul Lewis and Zdenka Mansfeldova, we have undertaken to
organise a section for the 2003 ECPR General Conference in Marburg (18-22
September 2003) from the Standing Group on Central and East European
Politics.
As with the first conference held in Canterbury in 2001, there will be a
conventional academic forum for presenting and listening to papers. The
academic programme will be organised in the format of sections and panels,
with each section chair organising a variety of panels in a given field.
The field which we are proposing is "Central and East European Politics".
We can organise between four and ten panels, each panel comprising up to
four papers plus a discussant and chair, with the possibility of tabled
papers.
In order to establish a section at the conference on Central and East
European Politics, we have to submit a proposal to the conference
organisers by Thursday, 1 AUGUST 2002.
This is therefore a CALL FOR PANELS within a Central and East European
Politics section. Although there is still over a year until the
conference itself, for the purposes of submitting the proposal on behalf
of the Standing Group it is useful to be able to give a tentative outline
of the panel titles and possible panel chairs. At present we know of
three or four possible panels at an early stage of development. This call
is to ensure that all others who wish to organise a panel within the
framework of the Central and East European Politics section have the
opportunity to do so.
In order to leave a few days at the end of July to put the proposal
together, could we request all who would be interested in putting together
a panel for the 2003 ECPR General Conference in Marburg to send outline
details of the proposed panel to this address by MONDAY, 22 JULY 2002
(i.e., four weeks from today). The details given should include the name
of a provisional panel chair and a brief outline of the topics to be
covered (and, if it is possible at this stage, a tentative indication of
who else may be participating in the panel). We will then mould the panel
proposals together into a coherently-themed Central and East European
Politics section, and keep you informed of further progress as we move
towards the conference.
Further details of the conference are available on the ECPR's website:
www.ecprnet.org.
We look forward to hearing from you in due course!
With best wishes,
