Um, but people who subscribe to the list might also be interested, and
Um if you have a Mac anyway viruses aren't really an issue since
Um most viruses are for Microsoft products as
Um you pointed out.

Um -- if people don't want to deal with attachments, we don't
want to waste connect time downloading them and sweeping them
out of their attachments folders.
Particularly since I pay for connect time.
Look, the point is, there is NEVER a reason to send an attachment
to a list. One person asked for this thing. It should have gone
to that person.
Even if you want the information to go to everyone, you should
send it as text. If people want a registration form, they can
get it off the web, or e-mail the person responsible for
registrations.
What's more, suppose it were a virus, and my finger slipped as
I dragged it to the trash. Instead of trashing it, I opened it --
and started up the virus.
And how do I know the thing even has an attachment unless I
open it? And if I were fool enough to open it in Outlook, and
it were Klez or Bugbear, I'd be spreading it.
Unsolicited attachments are a *danger*.
Nettiquette is, no attachments to a list. This one was small,
and harmless. But people need to develop the right habits. I
know one list where a pure idiot sent out a 2 MB PageMaker
file. As far as I know, no one on her list could read it.
But she sent it because she didn't know the rules. Nettiquette
is there for a reason.
