Neil,
We have had some success with the Telex M-60 USB microphone. One advantage
of using a USB microphone is that it eliminates the microphone-soundcard and
the soundcard-motherboard interfaces which, in theory, should reduce some of
the noise in the system. The M-60 is an active microphone designed for
speech recognition but was only available from the USA when we bought it
(two years ago). It has the advantage of being a desktop microphone, as many
of our clients are unable to manipulate headsets. We have one client
successfully using this device with Naturally Speaking on Windows 98. You
may want to have a look at the more recent Telex range

Subject: ViaVoice 9 and USB
Dear All,
2 questions in one really:
-Has anybody had experience with ViaVoice 9 rather than 8. I wanted to find
a comparison of the two and whether I can justify getting the later version?
-Has anybody tried the USB microphones and able to judge by how much they
are better than the ordinary analog ones?
Information generated will certainly be of use.
Thanks,
Neil Gregory
