I have been pointing out to the wheelchair manufactures for some
time now that the population is getting bigger and heavier, and the
range of chairs and need to be re thought accordingly.
Some of the manufactures have taken this onboard others have not.
One of my satalite clinics rang me yesterday to ask what could they
provide for a person who is over 34 stone and needs a deep seat
because her weight is forward and makes any chair unstable
forward. Any suggestions?
My main problem is though floor lifts, I was told by one of their
manufactures that they had not reviewed the sizes or weight limits
since the early 1960's, and then were wondering why current
chairs did not fit and the user and chair, especially powered chair
users, were over the weight limit.
