The JISC Images Working Group is holding a two-day
International Digital Image Symposium on June 20th and
21st. The event will be free and will be held at One Great
George Street (http://www.onegreatgeorgestreet.co.uk/) in
central London.
The International Digital Image Symposium is designed to
present an overview of the state-of-the-art in digital
imaging, to bring together the key organisations in this
field, and to attempt to take forward the agenda in this
area. The event has attracted a range of outstanding
speakers both from abroad and within the UK, including the
keynote speaker Bernard Smith (Information Society DG,
European Commission), Howard Besser (Berkeley), Oya Rieger
(Cornell), Seamus Ross (HATII), Debbie Campbell (National
Library of Australia), Susan Haigh (National Library of
Canada), Paulo Buonora (State Archives, Rome) and many
others. Themes to be addressed at the symposium include
User Needs and Evaluation, Metadata, a technical session,
The Use of Images in Learning and Teaching, and Delivery
and Digital Asset Management.
There will also be a reception on the evening of the 20th
June to which all delegates will be invited.
