Best wishes Eila ___________________________________________________  International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions IFLA                         Section of Art Libraries SAL                            Date : 8 March 2002 A SHORT TERM STUDY POSITION FOR THE IMAGELINE PROJECT The IFLA Section of Art Libraries endeavors to represent libraries and organizations concerned with all formats of textual and visual documentation for the visual arts, including fine arts, applied arts, design and architecture. The Section strives to improve access to information about these subjects for users of independent research libraries, museum libraries, art libraries attached to educational institutions art departments within national, college, university, and public libraries, government departments and agencies, libraries in cultural centres and other collections of art information. Task The Section of Art Libraries is seeking a person to conduct a scope and feasibility study to assess the potential value to users, the cost and the general feasibility of establishing an international web gateway providing access to sources of images. This study would be structured in such a way as to provide a format and methodology applicable to similar needs in other domains, but would itself be limited to the field of Art libraries. The place of work is immaterial. The results will be submitted before 15 June 2002, in the form of a report written in English.
