Dear Philip,
We buy quite few artists videos here, mailnly beacuse we have a Video With
Film course at Maidstone.
We have used the following sources:
http://www.illumin.co.uk/
Illuminations - This is quite a comprehensive site of artists videos..not
badly priced, and actually quite easy to get hold of.....
http://www.werkleitz.de/ovid/e-main.html
Ovid - Database for Experimental Film and Video Art
This is a good database for artists work on video. You can search by title or
person. So for example, Bruce Nauman....by putting in "Nauman", it reveals
biographical info on the artist, followed by a comprehensive listing of his
works, with links to a supplier. The supplier in most cases, is a company
called Electronic Arts Intermix and their website is not up and
running...there is an email address you could try, however.
http://www.buchhandlung-walther-koenig.de/katalog/lfilm/filmth.htm
Walter Koenig Bookshop - If you click on Film, you will find artists such
as Abramovic listed. This is all in German, but they were quite quick to
supply the material.
http://www.ica.org.uk
ICA - If you click on Bookshop and then film, you will find a selection of
feature films and DVD'S on artists videos.
If you are interested , we are going to run an ARLIS workshop at Maidstone,
on the 26 February on video art - "Diverse Practices: Video Art and
Libraries". The flyer for it, should be in the next edition of ARLIS.
Hope these will be of some help.
Bye for now
