Hello there,
There are other sites that offer free access to material on ads that are
worth noting.
We have added the following to our Moving Image Gateway:
Xtreme Information
The company claims to be the world's largest archive of international
advertising (both television and printed are included); they monitor
advertising in over 50 countries and they add over 7,000 new items to their
archive every month. Users can search for specific advertisements or for
trends, and searches can be limited by country, when the advertisement was
shown, brand, type of product and style of advertisement. Ads are available
as previews for commercial users for a fee, but there is a small selection
of free ads available.

UK Television Adverts
Independent site with information on over 2000 advertisements from ITV,
Channel 4. Channel 5 and UK based satellite channels from 1996 onwards, a
small number of which are streamed (using RealVideo). Its chief aim is to
enable searches for actors and actresses appearing in UK ads, but users can
search by product as well.

AdCritic.com
AdCritic.com is an American advertising industry information resource. It
offers a library of over 2000 broadband television commercials, streamed
using QuickTime 4. The adverts are listed alphabetically by product, with
lists of 'Top Ten' favourites and recent additions to the site. There is a
basic word search facility. The site also contains news, cinema trailers,
and a useful section listing ads by their music tracks (with links to
Amazon). The site is aimed as much towards the general browsing public (it
boasts that it is "amongst the top 10 most trafficked broadband sites in the
world") as the industry, but it would be even better with more background
information such as agency and date.

AdForum.com
An advertising industry portal, boasting links to over 16,000 agencies, and
with an impressively orderly and informative database of over 13,000 adverts
(magazine, radio, internet, television etc.), searchable by type, agency,
production company, brand, country, business sector and credits (including
performers). British advertising is best traced through the UK agency
portfolio section. Those television ads which are streamed use Windows Media
Player, and the image size is disappointingly small. The site requires
registration before use.
