CIIG (Construction Industry Information Group) have a visit to the Library
of the London School of Economics and Political Science,
Lionel Robbins Building, 10 Portugal Street, London WC2A 2HD
on Thursday 8th August at 4.00pm
There are a few places left to which ARCLIB members are cordially invited.
Guided tour by a member of LSE Library staff.
The Library has received a major revamp inside the 1916 shell of the grade
two listed building, with the introduction of a new light-filled atrium and
spiral stepped ramp culminating in an impressive partially glazed dome at
the top (cleaned by abseilers!). The dome has been precisely angled to
maximise daylight with minimal solar glare. A reflecting panel on the roof
also helps to direct sunlight to the floors below. Architects: Foster and
Partners, Project management: Schal International Management and
Construction management: Bovis Lend Lease.
The LSE Library also holds material on urban regeneration, planning and
geography. For further details on the Library see
