Dear All,
I just thought I'd send a note regarding my enquiry about the papers of our Health and Safety Committee.
The responses were all incredibly useful and all were in agreement that there's no specific statutory requirement on their retention.
Many suggested that permanent retention was not a bad idea as the papers contribute towards the record of our formal administrative history and also as evidence of work done in the area of H&S in the past. Permanent retention is also in line with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators which recommends that "records of consultation with safety representatives and committees" should be retained permanently.
Even if permanent retention isn't the thing - there are other reasons to keep them, specifically to cover our ... ahem, selves in the case of any litigation: although as one correspondent pointed out - the records could actually work against us in a claim against LSE!
Have a nice weekend everybody.
Regards
Matthew
