thought that there may be archivists who might also be interested.

National Railway Museum
A) THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM AND TELEVISION
Senior Researcher/Editor
Bradford £18,000 per annum (Fixed Term - 18 months)
This is a senior post for an experienced researcher/cataloguer to
participate in the digitisation of 10,000 items from the museum's
collection - managing 2 researchers within a small team. This will involve
assisting with the selection of objects and images for digitisation
according to defined criteria, retrieving and preparing the material and
maintaining accurate documentation. Liaising with the Imaging Technician
you will ensure that the digitisation is completed to agreed standards and
within timescales, demonstrating care in handing objects and images to the
highest professional standards. Practical experience of photography and
digitisation experience of text editing and proof reading and the ability
to supervise and guide others while carrying out your own tasks is
essential. You should also hold a relevant curatorial qualification and
have a good general knowledge of the history of photography, film and
television.
Researcher/Cataloguer
Bradford £15,000 per annum (Fixed Term - 18 months)
In this role you will work as part of a small team to help in our major
digitisation project. Reporting to the Senior Researcher and Project
Manager this is a responsible position in which you will assist with the
selection of objects and images for digitisation, retrieve and prepare the
material and maintain accurate documentation. An effective team worker
with good communication and interpersonal skills, you will liaise with
others to ensure that the digitisation is completed to agreed standards and
within timescales. Museum's archive experience and a good general
knowledge of British history or geography is essential.

B) THE NATIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM
Digital Imaging Content Researcher
York £15,800 per annum (Fixed Term - 12 months)
In this role you will select material for digitisation from the National
Railway Museum's photographic collections, according to criteria set out by
the editorial content group. Working with the curatorial and educational
staff, you will help to develop the narrative and thematic content of the
Science and Culture site's learning resources. Excellent written
communication skills are essential to this role, as you will produce
written material for a variety of audiences. Supported by a good general
knowledge of British social and industrial history and relevant museum
experience you're a good team worker with demonstrable visual awareness, PC
literate and have a meticulous and careful approach to your work.
Digital Imaging Content Researcher
York £14, 915 per annum (Fixed Term - 18 months)
As Cataloguer you will take responsibility for developing metadata for all
digitised material, working with the content researcher to ensure that
records are compatible with the narrative and thematic content of the
website. Your role will include entering new records into the imaging
database, editing existing records and data cleaning. You will also create
and print reports from the imaging database, and transfer and manage data.
PC literate, you are flexible, self-motivated and able to work well without
supervision. With relevant museum experience, you are able to handle
vulnerable images and museum objects with the requisite care, and have a
good working knowledge of standards such as the Dublin Core.
Digital Photographer
York £14,915 per annum (Fixed Term - 18 months)
Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for digitising
selected images, including photographic prints, negatives, pictures and
archival material, for inclusion in the website. This will involve digital
capture, manipulating images using appropriate software. You will also
create and print reports from the image database and transfer and manage
data. To qualify for this post you must have a suitable qualification in
photography or digital images, all-round photographic knowledge
(particularly of black and white photographic printing) and the ability to
use Adobe Photoshop and digitisation scanning software on both Macs and
PCs. Self-motivated and a good team worker, you can work without direct
supervision in a tidy and methodical manner.
