I’m working on draft specifications for a new repository to house the
Museum’s collections and I would be very grateful if anyone could offer any
advice on design for a storage area to house magnetic media. We don’t have
much – at present about 0.21 cubic metres – consisting of VHS tapes, audio
tapes etc. I envisaged that these items would be kept in an
environmentally controlled ‘broom cupboard’ of sorts!
I’m really after practical advice from anyone with similar holdings. Is
any particular type of racking better than another? Have you gone the
whole hog and lined the room with copper …?!
All advice or suggestions gratefully received
With thanks in advance
