NIC's (+ capped expenses)
Supported by a NEMLAC grant, North Tyneside Libraries is setting up an exciting
project which involves the production of web-based learning packages for
children. This will enable children, as well as their families and teachers, to
access a wide range of materials to support their homework and study needs,
including information about books, audio-visual resources and links to useful
web-sites.
The Project Worker will be expected to consult users about their learning needs.
Following this, you will research, select and prepare appropriate learning
materials for digitisation. A specialist ICT team, with your support, will then
create the on-line learning packages. You will need to liase with a wide
network of colleagues, maintain links with the steering group and contribute to
the evaluation of the project report. You will also be asked to assist with
sourcing funding to continue the project beyond summer 2003.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of children's
learning needs and will have experience of devising stimulating educational
materials, preferably in a museum, library, archive or heritage context. You
should possess a good range of ICT skills. You should also have good
communication and networking skills, be able to work within a team, as well as
independently, and be able to meet deadlines efficiently.
Please supply a full CV (including the names of two referees), supported by a
covering statement detailing how your skills and experience are relevant to
this consultancy. The successful candidate would require clearance from the
Criminal Records Bureau at an enhanced level.
