International Training Opportunities for young
researchers under the Marie Curie Host
Fellowships scheme
Applications are invited from doctoral students wishing to spend up to
twelve months at the Centre for Census and Survey Research at the
University of Manchester. The Centre's work focuses on the following
areas:
Gender,employment and ethnic differences
Localitybased studies
The life-course, based on complex longitudinal studies
Methodologicalresearch relating to census and survey data

The Centre offers a stimulating base for inter-disciplinary research and
also provides training courses on standard and innovative methods of
longitudinal data analysis, complex survey design and analysis, applied
demography, and advanced data analysis constituting a twelve-month
programme leading to the MSc in Social Research Methods and
Statistics. Short courses on analysing census and survey microdata are
also available. Applicants should have basic quantitative skills, and an
interest in one of the research areas covered by the Centre. They may
either pursue basic training for seven or twelve months, or, if at a later
stage of the PhD, apply the advanced methods in which the Centre has
expertise to their own data under the supervision of a senior member of
staff.
