Challenges Faced In The Pharmaceutical Industry: A Biostatistics
Perspective
Christine Fletcher,
AMGEN
Abstract:
Working as a Biostatistician in the pharmaceutical industry is rewarding for
a variety of reasons, predominantly because of being able to contribute to
medical research and development of new and novel medicines that can
dramatically improve the lives of patients. The job is very demanding,
exciting, and extremely challenging, but lots of fun too.
Chrissie will review a variety of challenges she has faced from her working
history, with particular attention to Biostatistical issues.
Speaker:
Chrissie graduated in 1991 with a first class BSc. (Hons) in Statistical
Sciences and Management Techniques degree from the University Wales College
Cardiff. She then joined SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals working as a
biostatistician in clinical development. In 1997 Chrissie joined Amgen Ltd
working as a biostatistician, also in clinical development. Her current
role is Biostatistics Manager with global Biostatistics project
responsibility for an inflammation product. Chrissie also has overall
responsibility for Biostatistics projects in the European inflammation/bone
metabolism and exploratory therapeutic area.
