EPIDEMIOLOGIST/STATISTICIAN
Applications are invited for the position of research
assistant/associate in epidemiology/statistics within the
MRC Health Services Research Collaboration, based in the
Department of Social Medicine. The post is for one year
initially and the successful applicant will join a
multidisciplinary team exploring data from the hospital
episodes statistics (HES) database.
The Department has an international reputation for high
quality research in both aetiological epidemiology and
health services research, and in the recent Research
Assessment Exercise, received the highest grading of 5*,
indicating that the majority of its research is of
international standard.
Applicants should have a good first degree, with a relevant
postgraduate qualification, preferably (but not
necessarily) at PhD level. Experience in analysing and
publishing studies in the field of epidemiology or health
services research would be an advantage, as would
experience in the analysis of large databases.
Salary is on the University Research Scale (RA1A point 9 to
13, up to £26,491) and this post is available immediately.
Starting point and grade will be dependent on age,
qualifications and experience.
