In response to your questions below ........
> a) Are qualifications checked at the point of enrolment?
> YES
> b) Are they checked during students' induction programmes?
> NO
> c) Are they checked by teaching, or administrative staff?
> ADMIN STAFF - Admissions officers plus temps
> d) If they're checked by admin staff, is this done in a central location, or
> in local (teaching department/school/faculty) offices?
>- centrally
> e) Is any specialist training offered to staff engaged in checking?
> yes, as part of enrolment training
> f) Do you have any additional comments?
> if there are any probs (ie quals dont
match the basis of offer or we cant understand the
certificate we would give the student a temporary enrolment
and get a tutor to sign them on to the course). For
overseas quals we require the student to present an
independent translation
It does slow down the enrolment process and mean lots of
students cant enrol on the first hit as they often forget
their certs or dont have access to them - but given the
number of people we pick up who are submitting fraudulent
info its worth it (though Im not sure the enrolment
officers would think that!!)
hope this helps
