Colleagues,
There may well be a more pertinent list that deals specifically with
research degree administration, but I thought I'd ask you first (you've
always been so obliging in the past) about your writing up fees for
research degrees.
Please let me know what your current writing up fee is for research
students and what period it covers. Do you set the fee for the whole of
the year or do you set it incrementally across the quarters of the year,
increasing the rate per quarter, in a bid to encourage earliest completion?
Do you ask for one writing up fee or does a student have to re-enrol and
pay a fresh fee each session (in the likely instance that the student
exceeds the minimum registration period but remains within the maximum
registration period - i.e. takes 7 years to complete instead of the minimum
3)? As that reference in brackets applies to full-time students, that
prompts the question as to whether your writing up fee is differentiated
according to whether a student is full-time or part-time.
Anyhow, you get the gist of where I am coming from. Any info you would be
kind enough to share with me (email me rather than the list by return),
would be much appreciated.
Merry Christmas to all subscribers, but I wish the merrier Christmas to
those who respond.
Cheers,
Paul
