Margaret Hodge and Sir Howard Newby will be two of the principal speakers at
the second national event run by the Foundation Degree Support Team on
October 22 2002. It will be an opportunity to find more about foundation
degrees from the perspective of employers both large and small as well as
providers and employer related bodies. Keynote speakers include the
Minister for Higher Education, Margaret Hodge, and the Chief Executive of
the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE), Sir Howard Newby. Margaret
Hodge will provide the opening address to the conference. Sir Howard Newby
will discuss how foundation degrees will fit into the overall strategy for
Higher Education over the next five years.
The conference includes a range of workshop sessions, which will cover
partnerships, quality assurance in foundation degrees, work based learning,
widening participation and the benefits for business. Lunch will also
provide a chance to network with other strategic players who will run poster
sessions.
The conference will be held at the new Docklands campus of the University of
East London and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mike Thorne, will open the
event.
