Hi Mary
don't know if this reference will help.
Its a general guideline designed specifically to assure builders and
designers that it is possible to build a level threshold that doesn't allow
water to 'invade ' the building.
"Accessible thresholds in new housing : guidance for house builders and
designers. (1999.)Norwich, The Stationary Office."
If you can't get hold of it - let me know and I will lend you my copy
regards

Subject: damp
Hi,
Has anyone got any solutions to the following question please?
> In a new School 66% of the Classrooms have access doors diecctly to the
> outside. We propose to make the Floor
> level of the Classrooms and the external paved areas the same level for
> good accessibility.Possibly the paved area can fall away from the building
> at 1:40 falls. My concern is the detailing at the junction of the cavity
> wall and the paving, thus preventing the rain water back tracking into the
> School together with the question of dampness. Aco drains at the junction
> and stepped cavity trays are detail we are looking at.
Any other ideas?
