Marcus,

Unfortunately, whilst you are right in saying that similar types of
equipment are used more frequently in the US, this is not yet the case in
the UK.

If you go to http://www.yourlocalcinema.com/faq.html you can read more about
the equipment installed in Guilford, and also sign a petition to be sent to
the film council to request that they fund the installation of this style of
equipment in cinemas all over the country.

However, you will see from the website that the equipment is only part of
the solution, the films must be produced with audio description and
subtitles and at the moment this is not happening with all films.
