Looking at it and feeling somewhat evil after a week's washout under canvas -
couldn't a sculpted staircase be considered a symbol of oppression? A
celebration of an icon of a disablist culture? Just a thought.
As a piece of public art, it should be accessible to the 'public', though the
artist may not agree. I remember discussions between myself and artists who were
working on the Tern Project here in the Lancaster District. To quote: "I agree
that the art should be accessible, it should be accessible to the artist
primarily!" Go figure...
