Rachel Wilmot mentioned the problem of urine protein methods that don't
react with globulins (as well as they do with albumin), especially BJP
in some cases. When we changed to a benzethonium chloride urine protein
method, I found that albumin and globulins measured fairly equally. We
are soon going to start quantifying BJP from the percent on urine
protein electrophoresis (UPE) and the urine total protein. I need to
test the benzethonium chloride method for its ability to quantitatively
measure BJP (as well as the UPE stain). Has anything been published on
this or does anyone have personal experience? Thanks. -Jim
