EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
Applications are invited for the post of Executive Secretary of the
Royal Astronomical Society.
The RAS is the senior, and probably the best-known, astronomical
society in the world, and has an international membership approaching
3000. Its activities, including a wide range of meetings and
publications, are concerned with the promotion and encouragement of
astronomy and geophysics.
The Executive Secretary is responsible, under the direction of the
Society's Officers, for the day to day conduct of the Society's
affairs, staff, and premises. A scientific background, though not
essential, is desirable; sound administrative and management
experience is required, together with presentation and modest IT
skills. The successful applicant will lead a small staff in a
gracious and friendly environment. The salary will be linked to the
University Academic-Related scale, with a starting salary in the range
£28,498 to £35,251 p.a. plus £2,130 London weighting.
