A (last) reminder to UK-Geophysics/seismology subscribers!
A two-day RAS/BGA Geophysical Discussion meeting at The Geological Society,
Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, has been arranged for 7-8 February
2002 to show how scientific challenges generated by the Comprehensive
Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) continue to stimulate advances in Earth
science, including improved knowledge of the lithospheric structure of the
British Isles. Several overseas guest speakers have been invited. The first
day of the meeting will be devoted to presentations on forensic seismology,
and on the second day, the meeting will focus on advances in modelling
British lithospheric structure. The meeting marks Professor Alan Douglas'
contribution to forensic seismology over forty years.
The programme and abstracts for the meeting are posted on
http://www.gsrg.nmh.ac.uk/ras_mtg.htm (ras_mtg.htm)
Hope you can come!
best wishes,
Dr. David Booth (British Geological Survey) and Prof. Peter Maguire
(University of Leicester)
