HMC and PRO to come together to form National Archives
Asian London - new webpages
CILIP workshop - How to set up a Library or Information Centre

HMC and PRO to come together to form National Archives

The government has today announced its decision to bring HMC and the PRO
together from 1 April 2003 to form a new body, the National Archives. This
is as a result of the quinquennial review of HMC conducted in 2000-2001 by
Sir Geoffrey Chipperfield. Further information about this, and the
Commissioners' response to the Chipperfield report, are given in Issue No 5
of the HMC Newsletter, published today on the Commission's website
http://www.hmc.gov.uk/pubs/electronic.htm. The Chipperfield report itself
is also published today by DCMS and is available on the Department's
website http://www.culture.gov.uk/heritage/RCHM_stage_one_report.html.

Asian London
A guide to Asian cultural events in London, July to September 2002
Introduction
London's Asian community has made a significant contribution to its
economic, cultural, social and political affairs and is a source of great
strength to this world-class city. I am delighted to launch this guide to
Asian culture in London - profiling the incredible plethora of cultural
events across London over the summer. London leads the world in creativity
and diversity and its Asian communities strengthen the vitality and dynamism
of our cultural landscape. I hope this guide will help you make the most of
the vibrant Melas, spectacular outdoor events as well as film festivals,
musicals and arts events of the highest quality.
