All,
Hope there is someone out there who knows their Kipling .. I came across the
following poem - a hymn to the Army - in Strawson's, 'Gentlemen in Khaki'.
He neglects to say where it's from! Does anyone know?:
šAve you šeard oš the widow at Windsor
With a hairy gold crown on šer šead?
She šas ships sail on the foam she šas milliona at šome,
Anš she pays us poor beggars in red.
Therešs šer nick on the cavalry šorses,
Therešs šer mark on the medical stores
Anš šer troopers youšll find with a fair wind bešind
That takes us to various wars.
Then šerešs to the Widow at Windsor,
Anš šeršs to the stores and the guns,
The men anš the šorses what make up the forces
Oš Missis Victorieršs sons'
In hope,
Jatinder
