Yes, 'Black' used to be a political term. As I understand it, as the
generations move on, people call themselves different names' there seems to
be no consensus. This is not surprising as new generations keep arriving.
What will the child of Somali parents born in the UK call herself? However,
I think those of us talking about 'People of Colour' have to make decisions
about what terminilogy to use in our writing when a collective term is
required. So I always capitalise; if I were talking of skin colour, I would
not.
