Dear all,
We are currently reviewing our storage of digital masters created when
processing scanning orders of images in our collection. The latest advice
from TASI <http://www.tasi.ac.uk/advice/delivering/cdr-dvdr.html> about
using CD-R and DVD-R for digital preservation suggests that "if your
project is in the early stages, or you have not yet started archiving to CD-
R, you may want to look at DVD-R as an option..."
We are keen to use DVD-R because of the advantages of increased storage
space. I would be interested to hear from anyone who is using DVD-R who
wouldn't mind giving me information on how they reached the decision which
they made. There is slight concern here that DVD-R is as yet unproven and
that we are stepping into uncharted territory.
I will happily summarise any response to list.
Thanks,
Ali
