The ARCHON Portal
http://www.hmc.gov.uk/archon/archonportal/archonportal.htm is the HMC’s
database of archival resources, projects and initiatives. It contains
brief descriptions, contact details and web links for around 250 projects
and covers key themes such as the national archive network, online finding
aids, preservation and conservation and surveying and mapping collections.
The following projects have been added within the last month:
British Universities Film and Video Council: Researcher’s Guide Online
(RGO) whose online database covers almost 550 film, television, radio and
related documentation collections in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Story of Punjabi Life and Culture which aims to catalogue nearly 500
manuscripts relating to the Punjab held in the UK and make them available
to everyone through the internet and a new illustrated book. The items will
date from the seventeenth century to present day and will cover a variety
of topics including the region's literary heritage; philosophy and
traditional medicine.
UNESCO’s Floods in Europe: Damages to libraries and archives web site which
is regularly updated with information concerning the extent of flood damage
to libraries and archives and what action has been taken for disaster
recovery.
We are constantly looking to expand the number of projects on the Portal
and would welcome any suggestions that anyone may have. If you are a
participant in a project that you would like to be included there is an
online form that you can fill in at
