Well, Brian Adam MSP asked a question (amongst many) in the
Scottish Parliament a few months ago regarding family
history/genealogy in Scotland and exactly how the Scottish
Executive is developing policy to exploit the field to its fullest.
One of his questions yielded a reply that Scottish Enterprise was
conducting research into the involvement of family
history/genealogy in tourism ... I haven't seen the report published
yet, nor do I know when it is due, but there will probably be
something in it regarding the use of the internet and family history.
Apart from that ... if you do find the information, I'd be very glad to
know of it too. There are a few MSPs looking into this just now and
giving it support in terms of family history/ genealogy being a key
element of a tourism strategy in Scotland ... whether or not it will
mean anything in the long run is anyones guess.
